Line as Value
In this drawing the artist used line as value in many different places. The artist used it to create the shadows of the dark places and the light coming in from the windows. Also the designs on the ceiling of the building have a lot of value in them.
Gesture Line
Gesture lines are lines that just kind of suggest what the object is, there is no precise line that shapes the object. In this drawing of three babies, someone that has never seen a baby might not know what this drawing is of, It would look like scribbles to them. The gesture lines focus on the movement or pose rather than shape.
Contour Line
This contour drawing of a rose uses only contour lines to show the outside lines of the flower. A contour drawing does not emphasis on the texture or dimensions, just the basic outline of the objects.
Line as Emotion
The characteristic of this line conveys an emotion of happiness and free flowing thought. The way the line is continuous and has no true pattern or direction gives the viewer a feel of freedom and no worries.
Line Direction
Line direction is very apparent in the work of art. Many lines are going different directions to form a crazy illusion looking painting. Our eyes can't help but look at each section and follow the lines from one direction to the other. Line direction creates the feeling of movement in art. This picture seems to have a lot of movement in in different directions.
Line as Shape
This plain clean line is in the shape of an elephant. Even without texture, color, or much detail we can still see the shape of the elephant. Line as shape is just the outer edge of an object being seen and we are able to follow the line to see the shape that it has made.

Unity Through Variety
To me this photo screams unity through variety. Although it may not be in a square grid like formation, you can see the unity with each cupcake being exactly the same just different colors. To unify the photo even more the creator left the icing the same on each cupcake. There is plenty of variety with all the different colors. I also like how each peep on top of the cupcakes are not perfect or aligned with each other.
